Joomla Image Compression

There is now a free Joomla extension which utilizes Optimus for lossless image compression. Check out the EIR - Easy Image Resizer, created by Viktor Vogel, a Joomla! specialist at 1&1 Internet. This extension allows you to automatically resize the resolution of images which are uploaded through the media manager and third party extensions. Joomla image compression just became easier.

That is a decrease of 71.72% in image file sizes.

Under the "Optimus - Lossless Compression" tab in the extension settings you will want to make sure and activate it. To access the full benefits of Optimus, up to 5 MB files and HTTPS, you will need to purchase an Optimus license, which starts at $29.00. Otherwise you can still use it on images up to 100 KB for free. In version 3.4.0 you can now also optimize all image uploads from third party extensions (e.g. image gallery extensions or JCE editor). Enable the "All Image Uploads" option.
